Making better business decisions starts with having a solid and trustworthy information architecture.

Master Data Management (MDM)

Objective

There are still many contradicting definitions of Master Data Management, further adding complexity to an already difficult domain.  Vendor-specific views often limit the scope, or bias the approach, and this from a technology starting point rather than a business value point of view.  In other words, select a vendor and/or technology, and your company is stuck with a specific interpretation of MDM, not necessarily the one best fit for your organization.
On the highest level, Master Data Management should heighten data quality, governance, and align usage of the key information pieces your organization works with.  Depending on your needs, or which vendor/technology expert you consult, different scopes and approaches are used: in- or exclude operation (Master) Data Management, consider Datawarehousing and ETL in or out of scope, use a pre-defined (sub)set of MDM domain items (e.g. Product, Customer, Supplier, Location) or determine your own Master Set.

Value Proposition

LoQutus flexibly adapts itself to the many viewpoints that exist, and can help you to put to main focus back where it belongs: creating business value.  More than 65% of the MDM initiatives for the coming years will fail to demonstrate real business value, and this is where our expertise can make the difference.  Rather than looking at some isolated Master Data Management needs, a broader view is taken, where MDM is just one component in an overall Information Management Strategy.  Although this holistic approach is already difficult to find in today’s technology oriented MDM market, LoQutus takes its approach even one step further, by considering Information Management (and especially Information Architecture) in tandem with Application/Technology Architecture as key enablers of the Business Architecture.  This integrated view, a motivated and guided transition to a more desirable organization is what we consider the main benefit of Enterprise Architecture.
